The thing is the hardware they use does not need to be in a cabinet but I assume BT will repurpose those. I watched a start to finish video on the subject from Zen made 4 years ago and it goes into depth on how they do it
The distribution is different as all the fibre splits per splice . If you go about 8 min in it shows you how it is distributed. Hell of a lot tidier that FTTC I tell you

Nothing but why do it for FTTP? The jointbox (manhole) contains the CBT (Connection block terminal) for direct connection to the properties if supplied via ducting. If supplied via pole CBT's are placed on them. There is no need for a cabinet for any FTTP connection.

Actually and ironically I was walking home from town and low and behold I saw this on the way and had to snap it just for this thread. Low and behold an Openreach tech splicing Fibre in a cab haha
