FTTP who to buy it from - Recommendations please

FTTP is finally available in my area!

For anyone who has experience with buying this please recommend a company to get it from, I want someone who isn't going to cause me grief if I use IPTV services etc(I want no limitations) and get the best kit.

Sky do not tell you how much it is going to go up in April so you can get out of a contract/use this to keep the cost down after April or move to another deal. Remember your cashbacks and promos you could make on it haha

Also is it openreach or cityfibre someone else?

City fibre layed the cables but according to this site where I've been tracking it all Openreach is now LIVE, so I've got a good list of providers if I click on the city fibre link, I've clicked on Zen, Cuckoo and Sky and they say it's available, I'm likely to order in the New Year due to no holiday left at work.

Looking forward to ditching very expensive Virginmedia as I've not had the courage to renegotiate the contract as I hate the stress of phoning up so it'll be good to ditch everything I have here and save a fortune.

Re: your concern streaming. I've read in various places that smaller reputable providers would be the best bet as they haven't yet sold their souls. Throttling is common amongst the big named providers. VPN can get around this.

Provider provided security can be turned off but a VPN gets around it.

Thanks, I'm hoping this isn't going to be an issue when I set parents up with IPTV at Christmas but I'll give them my NordVPN too.

I'd run a VPN regardless if you have one avoiding all kinds of bullshit.

Nord app on fire stick has been crashing for me when setting up auto connect to a specific server. I had to choose one from the main screen then go settings auto connect to recently used server not from the huge list. Also Nord tends to hang on connecting but is really connected. Download analiti for confirmation.

I'm not sure how you're set up. The hubs WiFi doesn't play ball all too well. It's advised to split wifi bands then connecting to 5GHz.

BT have a policy on NO throttling.

I've never had any issues with NordVPN or my Firestick and it's all connected via WiFi 5ghz.

Nord is by far the superior VPN I too use it no issue just some bugs that don't really have a bearing on its main purpose so no bother :tu:

I use Zen for my primary connection. Not the cheapest but their kit is pretty decent (at least compared to VM) and if you can understand the Rochdale dialect you'll be ok if you need to ring up. They answer e-mails as well.

What you believe doesnt really matter, its their policy, if you can prove otherwise, please enlighten us.

I used Aquiss for well over a year and have now moved to IDNet.
My primary reason is because I want a static IP - in both cases customer support has been good.
Also, I prefer to stay away from the bigger players as the smaller ISPs dont have to apply all the ridiculous site blocking.

Went with BRSK about 5 month ago, they have option of a no monthly contract, which I liked, but just recently I've switched to their 18 month contract for the same 2gig up and down for £35pm (Think offer ends on 30th Nov.) VM wanted £72pm for the 1gb, absolutely ridiculous, glad to see the back of them! I haven't had a problem since having BRSK installed. they offer the usual addons including a static IP for an extra £5pm. oh, and they don't use throttling either.

I have a referral code anyone can use to receive a £50 Amazon voucher after your first months bill, must sign up to 18 month contract to qualify for it though.

Sounds good for BRSK! Just checked and they're the only company I've checked so far that says not available, I've tried Zen, Cuckoo, Sky and BT which say they're live.

If it wasn't so close to Christmas id consider changing now but it's probably good to wait because it's only been live a few days and it was Zen that first emailed me about it.

BRSK are not available on Openreach, all the others you listed are.

Re: FTTP who to buy it from - Recommendations please

I remember when I checked BRSK coverage on their website, it told me it wasn't available in my area, so I left my email for them to let me know when it would become available, I got an email the next day telling me it was available, and it could be installed the very next day. It took 2 tech guys just under one hour to do. Even months later after my install, it still tells me it's unavailable.

Anyway Snoops, good luck with the process, hope you find the right provider for you.
