Turns out the newly installed cabinet is property of Virgin Media. A lovely sticker has been applied inside the back panel of the cabinet.

It is worth noting Openreach FTTP does not come via a cabinet.

My Openreach FTTP is connected to a green cabinet which in turn is connected to a manhole opposite my house which is where they pulled it from.
When I input my address here it brings up a bunch of interesting info and tells me I'm served by cabinet 5 which is at the entrance to my street.

The thing is the hardware they use does not need to be in a cabinet but I assume BT will repurpose those. I watched a start to finish video on the subject from Zen made 4 years ago and it goes into depth on how they do it
The distribution is different as all the fibre splits per splice . If you go about 8 min in it shows you how it is distributed. Hell of a lot tidier that FTTC I tell you

I can guarantee you there is no fibre connection in that cabinet. The reference to a cabinet is from the (being dis continued) PSTN service.
