You have the option to pay whomever you wish for your pay TV package so use your consumer power and choose the best one for you. That will then be fair!
That is a good point but I do have sky sports with virgin so we are entitled to that

I agree, Andrew. Sky are treating sections of its customers appallingly. Whether we subscribe to Sky channels through Virgin Media, BT or the Sky satellite system, we should all have the ability to access all their channels, as long as the operator the customer was with was prepared to pay the appropriate price for them.

I used to watch how Sky was developing its product with keen interest, figuring that if it moved ahead of cable, I would happily switch to Sky. But now, I am disinclined to make such a step because I am so annoyed at the disdain they show for their customers.

It's not only their non satellite subscribers, either. They make it as awkward as they possibly can for people to cancel their Sky subscriptions, for example.

I agree with you on this, it doesn't matter where there customers come from we should all be treated equal

Sky isn't denying VM any content the content is all available through a Sky Sports subscription. On Sky it's making certain sporting events free for it's entire customer base as I say a sound business move and probably one they'll use to push hefty price increases through this June.

I have heard stories about customers wanting to leave sky but unable to due to sky being persisant and even discounts require what I consider private information

They are just doing what most businesses do try to retain customers, vm also offer deals if you try to leave as do BT and many others it is called business.
You are free to leave at anytime from any company once you fulfill your contract no-one is preventing anyone from leaving, all SKY and VM are doing is trying to retain customers and throwing in sweetners such as discounts.

I don't understand why, if the idea is to stimulate interest in the Sky Sports channels, it isn't on VM to do exactly the same job.

I couldn't agree more. Sky will never get another penny out of me and I will continue to bar them from any properties that I have control of.

I must have been lucky I've always found Sky customer services excellent likewise I've had no issues with cancelling the service over the years.

The worst customer services I've ever dealt with bar none are BT.

Personally i wouldn't wish any company to go bust at the moment as a lot of jobs would be lost in the process, iptv will no doubt take off but i think we will see the likes of SKY and possibly vm change tactics and offer a iptv based service, SKY already do this with nowtv, vm possibly could do something if they pull out their finger and start going for the rights of shows that are still yet to be picked up prime examples being Salem, Izombie. Both superb shows that do well in the USA that haven't been picked up in UK.

I had to cancel a Sky account for my parents and it was like pulling teeth. Sky had been nothing but rude and impersonal sending threatening letters to my parents about disconnecting the box from the phone line. I Know my parents they would not touch anything like that yet when Sky came to check it was fine every time. This went on for years until Sky then started just taking money from my mams account for her not having the box connected.

I had already phoned Virgin got my parents a deal before canceling the sky. I was on for almost 2 hours while the arrogant douche on the other end slagged off virgin media and would not take no for an answer. In the 2 hours i said i wanted to cancel over 30 times.

I have never had anything but a professional reply from Virgin when changing or canceling services
