Would've thought the far lower loading of the tube overnight would make both of those somewhat less likely. Those are symptoms of the sardine treatment.
Crime on London's transport network is at a record low rate after falling by 8.3% in 2014/15 compared with last year. Our latest figures show that there were 2,502 fewer offences and the rate of crime is down to seven offences per million passenger journeys.
On the Tube and DLR, crime has fallen by a further 12.4 per cent - the ninth consecutive year of reductions.
The news comes as we, along with the Mayor and British Transport Police (BTP), set out plans for the policing of Night Tube services. This will include more police out on patrol than are currently seen at any time after 22:00 on a Friday night.
When Night Tube services are introduced this September, we are committed to staffing stations at all times, to ensure the transport network remains a low-crime environment. More than 100 extra police officers will boost security and be patrolling the 144 stations that will open throughout the night each weekend.
More BTP Police Community Support Officers will also be out on the network to help passengers and support police officers as required.
The reductions in crime rate have been achieved across the whole of our transport network and against a backdrop of rapidly rising passenger numbers. Crime on the bus network fell by 5.7%, and is also the ninth consecutive year this has fallen.
London Overground also saw crime fall by of 4.9% and on tram services there was a 22.7% drop. Despite the low levels of crime across London's transport network as a whole, increases were recorded in certain crime types on some parts of the network.
Reported sexual offences have risen by 34.7% across the network which can be attributed to TfL, BTP and the Metropolitan Police Services' Project Guardian initiative, which has raised public awareness of unwanted sexual behaviour and encourages victims to report these historically under-reported crimes.

If there are enough people using the trains then crime may not increase hugely or at all. Surely the criminal element prefer the darker more secluded areas to commit their dasterdly acts.

Except pickpockets and steaming which tend to be within crowds.
