TFL and Government forget ONE IMPORTANT ISSUE

http://www.itv.com/news/london/2015-...ight-tube-map/

With the introduction of All night tube on various lines. TFL and The Government / Boris has forgot about

CRIME

On the London Undergground Crime is rife with sex attacks, robberies in the day.

At night it will be worse, so my question would be - are they going to supply police officers to travel on these trains, as probably station offices will be closed.

Yes, there will be CCTV, but that wont help if someone is being attacked is it.

I think that the plan is to encourage crime (police cuts and such) so that they can step in when we're all killing each other. and take 'complete' control when it goes too far.

Firstly what has the government got to do with it?(Just Arthur trying to blame the tories again)

Secondly I am sure there are already plans in place, ie 24hr monitored CCTV so they can be ready to move at a moments notice as the Police work 24/7. As well as station security.

On your claims of crime being rife during the day, do you have confirmed evidence of this or just Arthur claiming there for it must be fact?

You may actuallyfind that usage figures for night use are not that high to start with as people need to get used to it being open.

If Boris allows cycling in the tubes, anyone committing a crime down there will be immediately knocked down by a passing cyclist.

Staffing levels are not changing. They have introduced shifts for the staff, which is one of the Union gripes. So yes, the stations will be staffed overnight.

It's also worth noting that a large percentage of the stations on the lines staying open overnight are underground. Regardless of TFL's wishes or desires, health and safety law REQUIRES that these stations be staffed when open.

Oh, and you might want to check your figures before starting the tube is rife on the tube, particularly page 11 of https://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cm...tin-q11415.pdf . In 2014/2015 there have been 2,337 notifiable offences on the tube and DLR. When you consider that in the same period, over 1.3 billion journeys were made on the tube and 110 million on the DLR, that does not sound like much crime.

Re: TFL and Government forget ONE IMPORTANT ISSUE

What good is one person holed up in some office? Rarely are platforms and the entrance at the same level on many stations. Rarely will an office afford a good view of the whole station. Even more rarely would a single person, or even a couple of station staff be willing to emerge from their sanctuary when there is a group of "yobs" messing about. Properly monitored CCTV with links to the local police is more likely to provide a solution to security of stations and indeed the neighbouring environment. It's not just the station itself that might be a risk.

Many suburban stations are staffed outside of peak hours, yet trains can be running after midnight or before sparrow's fart. Why should the surface tube need special treatment? Yes ideally, if we had the money everywhere would be staffed at all hours. But how high would fares then be?

This almost seems like a criticism that transport in the London area is going to be improved with long overdue 24 hour services, allowing people to get to and from their homes, work, night out.

The truth is whatever is done by Boris or the Tories Arthur will oppose it even if it means contradicting himself - as was the case with the water cannons he was a firm supporter of until Boris bought some...

Isn't one of the other changes that the staff won't be holed up in offices.
Quote:

Staffing policy
All stations will continue to be staffed by London Underground employees while train services are running, just as we do in the day. Staff will be visible and available to help you with any queries.
Safety
We are working hard with our policing partners to ensure the Tube network remains a safe, low crime environment.
There will be an enhanced policing presence during the overnight services. The British Transport Police (BTP) will provide more than 100 officers to patrol the 144 stations that will be open throughout the night each weekend when the Night Tube services begin. More BTP Police Community Support Officers will also be out on the network to assist passengers, and support police officers, as required.

So they haven't forgotten.

I'm genuinely shocked. I've clocked up upwards of a thousand journeys on the tube and have never seen, let alone been a victim of, any sex attacks or robberies.

How lucky must I be?

Re: TFL and Government forget ONE IMPORTANT ISSUE

There are plenty of Docs on the tube, especially with the BTP.

Crime on the tube can be anything from pickpockets -well know on the tube. Sex assaults where men and women get too close to you, and touch in certain areas

And robberies.

There was a recent victim of crime where three guys attacked a woman on the tube.

I am sure that tfl will place BTP on trains, but then they cannot be on everyone
