Is my Tivo dying?

Over the last three weeks my Tivo Box (1Tb) has been showing signs of difficulties.

On three occasions there has been a message saying that there was a 'serious problem' and that the system was fixing it. This always worked after about 30 minutes delay. Last night around 8 pm. the system froze. It halted mid-TV programme with the image frozen on screen. The Tivo did not respond to remote or manual commands. I resorted to rebooting via the power cord. This worked.

Does this experience indicate an existing / developing problem with my Tivo, or is this behaviour to be expected?

Re: Is my Tivo dying?

This is not normal. If it's a green screen you see with the message then you need to get an engineer out asap.

It's working fine today. The support forum suggests I watch and wait. I reckon another couple of hits and I'll contact CS.

Think it might need to be replaced, never heard of this happening before TBH I would phone and report this problem and you would more than likely get it replaced.

Send me a photo and ill look at it! All a tech will do is swap it for another as there are no serviceable parts.

I always advise pulling the plug out, this does seem to fix most problems. However, I would watch any recordings that you wouldn't want to miss, if I were you, just in case!
