If you're still getting the "drop off" then there's an issue somewhere.
Thanks, funny you should say that. The technician that installed the hub said the same thing.

I still say if you're going to throw down £50 on a SH2, you're better off getting a dedicated router. At least you can take that with you should you get FTTC or whatever.

Aw yes, spoke to CS on Tuesday and they charge £50 for an Engineer to come out and install if (knowing I can do it myself) and then put you on another 12 month contract just for a new router... not gona happen.

I suggest that you tell CS that their new 12 month contract requirement is unlawful. They'll argue that at £49.95 it's a discount that requires another 12 month contract. Tell them that this is arbitrary, unadvertised policy and they have no right trying to load that onto customers. The current VM T&Cs state:

Free Virgin Media Super Hub: Available to all new broadband customers taking our up to 30Mb broadband services, and to existing customers upgrading to our up to 30Mb broadband (subject to status and credit checks). Broadband activation fees may apply. Super Hub provided free while you are a subscriber. Wireless-enabled equipment required. Existing customers not upgrading their package can buy a Virgin Media Super Hub for £75. Equipment remains property of Virgin Media.

As far as I'm aware the new 12 month terms applies if you are upgrading and getting the SuperHub 2.

If you just get the SuperHub 2 on your existing tier, then a new contract doesn't apply

That is what I thought though... All I wanted was to the SH2 not a new 12 month contract Thanks for the advice

Re: superhub 2

This sounds to me that the agents, in typical VM fashion, haven't been properly briefed on the T&C's of the new superhub.

And £75 for a superhub! Jay Zeuss!

If you're thinking of paying that, go on ebay and get yourself an N66U.

Re: superhub 2

Can I just ask if my iPad is attached to the SHub2 on 5Ghz and I want to connect to my TiVo box with the Anytime app on my iPad (through a Powerline), would they be on the same network?

Re: superhub 2

Based on how my iPad/Tivo interaction works, and if I've understood you correctly, when the iPad is playing through Anytime, you are using your broadband connection (in this case on 5GHz WiFi) for the streamed material.

Or did you mean something else?

Yes, that's what I meant. Had my TiVo boxes installed yesterday and downloaded the app onto my iPad (connected through the 5Ghz). I wanted to connect the app to my TiVo box, but no matter what I did it kept telling me there are no TiVo boxes on my network, despite the fact that there are three, all connected via Powerlines.

Angry Re: superhub 2

The Internet has now been off for 4 hours, needless to say I'm not very happy. Spoke to VM who say I have no downstream to get an upstream, whatever that means. My downstream acquisition is locked. I now have to wait until tomorrow evening to get a technician out.
