Hope that solves your lag, but a shame you're going back to the SH1.

As a tester and whilst the firmware is not squeaky clean the SH2 in terms of wireless strength, sustainable speed and connection stability is significantly better than the SH1. Whether worth the upgrade cost and contract depends on what problems you are having with the SH1 and any other alternatives available to you.
Although I must also say that whilst it is close to making me not go back to modem mode. It's not quite there until the firmware issues are resolved.
To be fair there are still future firmware changes in the pipeline which may tip me over to using just the SH2. Lets hope there successful as it will at least get the wife of my back regarding cables around the front room and a reduction in dusting.
To be a tester you need to keep an eye on the Announcements section of the VM help forum. They will post any invites there.

Re: superhub 2
I don't think it's £50 AND a new contract, surely? Be one or the other I'd imagine.
I still say if you're going to throw down £50 on a SH2, you're better off getting a dedicated router. At least you can take that with you should you get FTTC or whatever.

Re: superhub 2
I agree with Eljay - except that I will eventually return to modem mode - absolutely no doubt about that.
I'll be a Jesse by syaying that VM's record with firmware changes on the SH1 could always be repeated. I suspect not, but why get all steamed up when modem mode is there and I have the right kit/?

Re: superhub 2
i would go back to superhub2 but it would be when the xbox live lagging problem is solved it might not effect everyone but the are some of us who it effects, my honest opinion it a firmware issue for me that cause my lag tryed dmz, port forwarding none of it fixed the issue. not expect it to be perfect wireless was spot on but cause a lot of problems to get basics to work. i just couldn't wait months a for a fix to my issue

Re: superhub 2
I got my Super Hub 2 installed yesterday and here are the results compared to Sky BB.

It has 'dropped off' if that's what you call it a couple of times. Don't know much about Routers or why it would be doing this. Maybe monitor it for a while then call VM?
Here is a drop off test.
Anyone get any ideas?

Re: superhub 2
I'm not sure of the point you're specifically making about the SH2 vs. SKY ADSL other than, perhaps, to highlight VM speed dropping down tpo below ADSL.
The first rule of speed testing for your purpose here is to stick with the same measurement point. You've got Luton, Preston and Basildon. Maybe you should just stick to Preston for all cases.
The thing now you should be looking out for is the continued comparison between speed tests performed in the morning and those at peak time in the evening.
Keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice, Ill make sure I stick to the same measurement point. Ill keep my eye on this and hopefully it was just a 'one off'.
The Sky vs. the VM, I can't quite believe the difference! Really pleased with the result.

I've noticed that some speedtest servers (particularly Virgin's own, ironically...) seem to drop off like this while others are absolutely fine. If you see that, go find the London Namesco server as it seems to be the most reliable. Test with that one and see what happens.
If you're still getting the "drop off" then there's an issue somewhere.
