Re: superhub 2
The package the trialists SH2's came in was a self-install pack. Handy having another 3 lengths of coax and more patch cable :p

Re: superhub 2
Interesting to see some users apparently being given a Superhub 2 minus the install fee.
Virgin should really consider sending the new devices out to the users on the higher packages as a goodwill gesture, would really like one due to the WIFI range on Superhub 1 is very erratic. (I do have routers laying around from when Virgin supplied the older style black sleek modem (50mb) with a Netgear WNR200 attached to it all supplied and fitted by VM engineer. (although Engineer took the older modem when fitting the Superhub 1 and left the Router behind. (Plus i don't really want to mess around with the Modem too much.)
How can they justify you paying the install charge for when it is just a simple modem swap and will be in the premises around 15mins at max and the device should not have had these problems to begin with - so they should not really expect customers to fork out again for the newer style hub.

That's a nice idea in theory, but aside from it costing Virgin a fair chunk of cash, it would probably cause more issues than it would solve. Believe it or not, there's a large number of people out there who are happy enough with the Superhub and sending them out a modem to swap would be a hassle. Quite a lot of them probably wouldn't bother and just chuck it in a wardrobe or even the bin (I seen this happen all the time, even when people were given new modems because their old ones couldn't handle the package they were on - I've seen people using their STB for broadband, incapable of getting more than maybe 2meg if they were lucky and wouldn't take a free upgrade to 10meg by having a modem installed).
Still, I don't disagree that Virgin should perhaps be more willing to send out the SH2 for free to those who request it. It's interesting that some people are able to get it free but it seems to be a retentions thing so only for those out of contract.

Random question, do you recall what delivery was used when VM posted it? Royal Mail or some other company?
As if I eventually get one and not in at delivery time I'd like to know if I just walk to my Royal Mail delivery office or have to faff with a private company.

Re: superhub 2
You only hear the bad things in a forum. Been fine for me. Also, having worked with them (on the network side), and knowing that their processes are the same as DHL's (at least they were 2 years ago, I know they are robust.

Oh that's good, so I should expect a "we called but you was out" type of card from them basically? Given I'm not at home during the day.

I think you'll find that couriers are a bit like ISPs - they're generally all terrible and come with their own horror stories.

Re: superhub 2
Defo - at least according to the process I know and have experienced once on Amazon delivery. Yodel's depots are often adjacent the DHL depot from which they split two years ago. Not always because HDNL existed separately but now has merged in. HDNL had different processes (which may have been the problem). In my area, the HDNL side disappeared (different depot address) and the Yodel side (ex-DHL) took over.
I don't know from where Franborough is served (depot); if it's Reading, then the same experience as mine can be expected.

Re: superhub 2
Well that is rubbish, I rang up and said could I just pay for postage and packaging and they refused as I did not have issues with my current superhub that I had reported!
Yet there are people on here clearly getting one for either no charge or £5. The best I got offered was £20 to cover postage!
