I too don't see the need for wall-mounting as if it's free standing (I take it it stands upright as the last one did) there is a better circulation of air to aid cooling.

haha well yeah you got me there.
normal routers dont keep me awake, but when I had the superhub its blue light was like turbo powered lighting the whole room blue :p
I didnt hide the superhub tho instead I just covered the light.
Putting it behind something big just makes it a hassle to swap cables, power cycle it etc. As well as not likely great for wifi reception if used.

What's wrong with a black bin bag then?
Especially if it is outside for collection!

Never thought I'd see the day where people would be crying over anything other than the Superhub 2's functionality.

Come on this is the Cable Forum. It is essential that we continue to fight for the right to continually bicker over anything and everything, even if it was perfection personified.

I can't see any of my networking kit, it's all hidden away in my "Comms Room", complete with UPS and remote control power switches .....

Everyone knwos that the biggest cause of wireless interference comes from dogs wagging their tails and disrupting the signal.

Re: superhub 2
SH2 in full router mode gives me a messy looking tbb graph with mean latency slightly higher than in modem-only. It bubbles around 20ms rather than 13ms in modem-only.
Pingtest pretty well confirms that.
Jitter can sometimes be as high as 2, but that was the case in modem-only too. The messy tbb graph doesn't seem to be associated with high jitter or particularly high latency.
Speed tests at tbb and speedtestnet are unaffected by SH2.
Wireless range seems at least as good as my WNDR3700 version 1. However, connections to my VM Freedom netbook and my Xperia U Android have been dropped in favour of other signals more than in modem -only. The up side to wireless is that speed tests on my wireless devices have been better in full router mode. Today I achieved a full 25Mb on my Xperia U in the same room as SH2. Previously in modem-only I maxed at 19Mb. I have 5MHz disbled because my devices aren't enabled for that.
My wife thinks the SH2 is good because you can tone down the LEDs. She has always wanted a car with a blue tint in the headlights.

That's implemented on the SuperHub 2.

Re: superhub 2
I just rang VM for 2 reasons:
1. Can I have the 120Mb upgrade early please?
VM - No!
2. Can I have a SuperHub 2 please?
VM- Not out yet, and when they are it will cost you £50.
Cheers

One thing nobody seems to have mentioned is whether the SH2 can actually use the full range of 5Ghz channels and not just 4 (the same as you can get at 2.4Ghz) like the old one.

As far as wireless signal goes, standing up is superior to flat.

Now VM a major uk isp is going to have it on their new CPE suddenly 5ghz may get crowded?

You realise BT are doing it as well?

Unless you happen to be using real men's 5Ghz equipment which has between 10x and 40x the transmit power of 2.4Ghz.
