I don't think its virgin that should pay, It should be RIM who's servers crashed and created the ruddy mess in the first place.

The next priority would be a "root cause analysis" of why there was a core switch failure within RIM's infrastructure
I am so glad i dont have a crapberry

Have a feeling O2 will be claiming any compensation they pay to their customers back from RIM

Re: Virgin Mobile & the Blackberry Blackout!

It is a BlackBerry issue and on their network not Virgin Mobile's so any compensation will be via RIM as you will not be credited by Virgin Mobile as all services supplied by them are working normally.

Some tariffs do require a 'Blackberry bolt on' or simliar so it's chargeable service, so I would think they are in line for compensation

Anyone who has a Blackberry with a tariff that's no extra over the same tariff with a different handset may be in a different position

However I would think that there is probably some horse trading going on to repair the brand damage as well as the actual loss of service

The intranet this morning stated that no Mobile agent could credit anyone for the present BlackBerry issue, all they could do was apologise and direct them to RIM.

I tend to read anything on there.

Re: Virgin Mobile & the Blackberry Blackout!

Looks like RIM are saying sorry?

Quote:
Research In Motion has announced that it will offer BlackBerry customers affected by last week's global service blackout a batch of premium apps worth $100 (£63) as compensation.

RIM said in a statement that the selection of apps is being "offered free of charge to subscribers as an expression of appreciation for their patience" during the three days of disruption to email, internet and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) last week.

And the full press release?

http://press.rim.com/release.jsp?id=5214

Quote:
The complete selection of premium apps will become available to download at BlackBerry App World over a period of four weeks beginning Wednesday, October 19th. The selections over this period will include the following (with more to come):

A data bolt on is what? £10 a month?

£10 / 30 days = 33pence. 33 pence x 3 days = 99 pence.

People are really going to waste their time asking for 99 pence compensation?
