Re: router broken
If you received a router from VM they will replace it. Call 150 from your home phone.

Well actually that's not true, they would have had to have it supplied by VM for it to be supported, its not a model, its a service code on their account.
(In theory)

Re: router broken
There's different definitions of support - "tested to work with their equipment" and "will help you over the phone with guidance and fix problems for you". The former applies, the latter doesn't in this case.

Re: router broken
If you say you have a dlink615 how can they not offer support? Anyway a little White lie saying virgin did give it would solve the support issue

I hope no one from VM management can ID you, that's really not good advice to give customers .. (makes no odds to me, but you want to be careful)

It has to have the code listed in the account because unless it is listed no agent will help set it up as it is not in the support scope and if they are being monitored they can get into trouble.
But if they do purchase one all they need to do is click here for help setting it up. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35153794-post14.html
