Re: Marketing Tivo
Why would all staff need to know about TiVo? Not all staff work in a consumer role, there are thousands of staff working throughout the company who cant even get cable so why should they need to know about the entire product line?

Seems a pretty amateur operation then haven't VM heard of Word of Mouth. It's no wonder people get quoted the wrong price for products on a regular basis.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

I think that's more to do with the sometimes complicated billing system, rather than staff training.

I would have no idea of any of the prices or biling and have no need to know, I know TiVo exists but that is far as it goes.
If I worked in a different part of the business I would not really need to know anything about TiVo becuse it was not a requirement of my job.
How many people working for BT or SKY do you think know about what products they supply, I bet you very few know much except for a general overview of what the companies sell.
You only ever need to know about products if it is a prerequisite of your position to have that knowledge as per my job in technical support, even when I speak to another department such as Customer Services or Customer Relations most of what I mention goes over their heads.

Could you quote were I said you should no the price , I merely stated all employees should know of it , as for Sky and BT I would expect the same of them. In all my time with Sky i have never rang and been quoted a wrong price more than once like with VM.
Don't VM have an intranet, magazine , newsletter etc for employees.

You do know that I was talking about myself not you with regards pricing.
Not all departments have the intranet or are even required to read up up on products if it does not have any impact on their job and the main intranet has the facility to weed out unrequired elements.

Re: Marketing Tivo
Maybe its just me then , I've seen phrases like GAMECHANGER , LIGHTYEARS AHEAD OF SKY , BEST PVR , so you would expect all staff to know about it.
How many backroom Apple staff don't know what an ipad 2 is how many staff at Microsoft don't know what Windows 7 was near launch.
