I can't see any VM staff not knowing what a TIVO box is , unless they fell asleep in training LOL

I imagine a large number of VM staff don't know what TiVo is, and the vast majority will have had no training on it. It simply isn't necessary for them to do their jobs. Remember most staff don't work on TV.

Go on - ask me what phones Virgin Mobile offer. I wouldn't have a clue!

Well thats appalling, all staff should be properly trained and made aware of all future products especially a so called game changer like TIVO , no wonder people complain about VM call centres If this is the case.

Once it's fully launched next month, then everyone in customer facing roles (who need to know) will have had their training/briefings.

All the UK TV fault staff were trained on TiVo in December.

Are you kidding? All companies should tell all their staff about all their products? Even the likes of (for instance) Sony, who probably have tens of thousands of products stretching across a wide range of industrial and commercial markets? Think about it. The average consumer sees a few things with Sony logos (PS3, TVs, camcorders etc), but they actually make products for hundreds of markets that have little or nothing to do with consumers, ranging from small computer chips to things like satellites.

VM are focused on a smaller area than Sony, but even they can have staff that are nothing to do with their consumer products. Why would briefing (say) their networks guys (core networks guys, not those who go out to customers) increase sales significantly for tv? I doubt it would.

A more serious problem that the kind of disclosure you propose would introduce is that while it may or may not increase sales, it does increase your competitors chances of finding out your future plans. This is not good for any company.

You could argue that vm did a good job of revealing Tivo way before it was ready. They did. However, it was not until they had signed an exclusive deal with Tivo, which would have limited how sky could react.

I really doubt there are many network guys who don't know about TIVO , and what sort of a comparison is Sony you may as well have used Asda with all their products LOL , also who mentioned telling all staff commercially sensitive info ?

All VM staff should know what TIVO is and have had a brief explanation , especially when people on here are claiming they've rang CS and been told they don't k ow what TIVO is. I'd like to see what Neil Berkett would think about some of his staff not knowing what TIVO is at this stage.
