my connection is slow to around 200 KB/s then jumps to full speed then drops again any ideas why

You have a fault on your line. Both your upstream and downstream power is out of spec, you'll need to call VM and get an engineer out.

Im in ox4 and have same lock on frequency/snr/ but my downstream power level is +10.8Db sometimes 10Mb mostly ~1.5Mb levels the same (fine for our ntl modems ... been ***** since around sept nothing todo with anything your side its vms fault (probably too many users but it did happen very very suddenly) personally i had it with these guys BT infinatey in our area in july ... im moving soon going back to adsl...they owe me a home a few teeth and around £5,000 in earnings ******s!

+10.8Db is too high and will cause slowdowns.

Excess load and overuitilization will also cause slowdowns.

Combine a signal issue with an area load issue and they both make each other worse.

today sync kept flashing and downloads even less i would ring them but im not the account holder and they are unfortunately away atm do you have to be the account holder to get an engineer out / get it fixed?
