Colleague says Coulson 'probably' knew of phone hacking
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12368029
Quote:
A freelance journalist has told MPs that a former News of the World editor probably would have known about phone hacking by reporters at the paper.
Paul McMullan, in evidence published by the Home Affairs Select Committee, made the claim about Andy Coulson - who has denied any knowledge of hacking.

It rumbles on..

And was still ignored by the police. I hope they've got some good explanations for all these ignored pieces of evidence.

Perhaps it's explained by this line in the Guardian link
Quote:

None of the former News of the World staffers who have spoken to the Guardian claim to have direct evidence of Coulson's involvement in law-breaking.
|
Or is hearsay good enough when it's a Tory?

And of course, it's not possible that the Police investigated the claims, found no evidence and were therefore unable to do anything?

Re: Colleague says Coulson 'probably' knew of phone hacking
Personally, I think that Coulson did know. While I don't expect him to have known about everything that went on under his command, I'd be surprised if he didn't know about it, especially after one of his reporters was jailed for it..

Re: Colleague says Coulson 'probably' knew of phone hacking
An update.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12786445
Quote:
A senior Met Police officer has offered to face MPs to "rebut" claims he misled Parliament by suppressing the full extent of the phone-hacking scandal.
Acting Deputy Commissioner John Yates has offered to appear before two committees to put the record straight.
He is accused of misleading MPs by claiming there were only eight to 12 victims of News of the World hacking.
Ex-Labour minister Chris Bryant also accuses his force of conspiring with the paper to cover up the scandal.
