I waved something of mine at Mylene once. The police were around in a flash then too.

'flash' being the operative word...

Personally I think Myleene should be offered 24 hours protection- and I'd be willing to do it for free...

Yes - mind you I'm not sure a feather duster or a rolled up copy of OK would have had the desired deterrent effect....

Yes, providing she felt they'd be able to respond in time.

hmm and going outside and showing your there would make her safer ? even if they were going to be slow to respond
she could have found it was more than 2 once outside putting yourself at risk for things is daft imho
( note i have no problem with her arming herself with the knife or using it if they had come inside and she felt threatened )

Wasn't it Mylene Klass who was mugged? If so, then I don't blame her I'd have went to the door or window with a knife too.

In fairness to that point of view, where I work, we phoned our local police to report a stolen laptop. We were given a crime number (for the insurance claim) and told to go investigate it ourselves..
Also, on a personal level, a couple of years ago, someone was trying to climb over our back fence. The dogs noticed it, and went insane. The barking alerted the neighbours who called 999. The Police came round, chased a couple of blokes off (who used the excuse that they were playing football and the ball had gone over our fence). The Policeman came to our front door, told us what had happened, and asked us to report anything strange happening.
So, about 10pm, I noticed a car going round and round the carpark behind our garden, and apparently spending a long time by our fence each time it went round. I watched for a few minutes, then phoned 999. The operator initially refused to put the call through saying it was probably someone doing a driving lesson. When I said they had been circling for 45 minutes so I didn't think that likely, they asked me to stay by the phone and hung up.
5 minutes later, I got a phone call from our local Police station apologising for what had happened. 15 minutes later I got another one from the Police telling me that the car I had described had been seen outside a local building society and the occupants arrested trying to break in, and that we should be OK now.
I know that a lot of Police Officers do a lot of good work, often in dangerous conditions, but the Police don't get it right all the time..
As for Mylene Klass, I can understand that she probably did feel threatened, but it is a bit much to threaten someone's life just for nicking garden implements.

I'm not agreeing with what she allegedly did, but i found myself in a similar situation a few years back and the sheer thought of someone invading my personal belongings (be it as stupid as a lawn mower) drove me to run out into the back garden and confront the idiot.
Thankfully he was a lowlife who scarpered using a laid out track of wheelie bins in front of fences, but when rage takes over you do stupid things. My nerves were absolutely shot after that and I didn't sleep for weeks

I'll admit, I was looking at it from a logical point of view. Unfortunately, when threatened, logic goes out the window for most people..

Re: Myleene Klass warned by police
Perhaps a kind mod can change the thread title to the apparently more correct: Myleene Klass not warned by police at all?
Quote:
But a statement from Hertfordshire police said: "Officers spoke to reassure the home owner, talked through security and gave advice in relation to the importance of reporting suspicious activity immediately to allow officers to act appropriately."
It added: "For clarification, at no point were any official warnings or words of advice given to the home owner in relation to the use of a knife or offensive weapon in their home."

Sounds like a storm in a teacup. Perhaps Myleene was just after some publicity?
