Nope. You normally have to murder a judge or lawyer before they actually remand someone

My guess would be that this carbuncle had a very long list of previous to be put on remand.

Yes, anyone who commits any crime should have their name and addresses published on the net so angry vigilante mobs can reap justice. We'll start with filesharers and teenagers miming to Pokerface on YouTube and then working all the way up to murderers. Society will be cleaned up in not time.

It's not very difficult to obtain his address, but where to post it is the problem. The power of ebay means the buyers are usually living miles away, I dare say if he had ripped off locals he would have been dealt with appropriately.

I understood that he was not on remand, and whilst waiting for his court appearance he was committing further crimes. This is the method he applied during his previous court appearances.
He missed his previous court appearance because he was being detained by the police for further crimes.

In total, Mr James said, Shortman, had conned buyers out of £7,836.22, sometimes using the username Welshlunatic21.

He went on a luxury spree spending weekends in New York and staying at a five-star hotel overlooking Times Square.
He hired stretch limos for nights out with his teenage pals and when police raided his home they found it stacked with top-of-the-range computer gear, hi-fis and flat screen TVs.

All of that with £7k?
5-star sprees in NY are not cheap, plus all the other stuff?

That is relating to his first offences when he was 17 yrs old, he took his mates to NY.
Looking at the original BBC report you will find the following for those offences back in 2004. (His latest is the fourth round of offences that are big enough tohit the media)
The boy admitted 21 charges of fraud amounting to £16,105 and asked for a further 64 offences - amounting to £28,860 - to be taken into consideration.
For these offences he was sent to a place for young offenders.

I have lost count now how any times he has been caught and sentenced, I think he had 12 months youth detention and then a few suspended sentences. The last time was in August 2008 when he was jailed for 24 months.
Apparently he served around 6 months of that sentence and today has been sentenced for 30 months for his latest crimes.

The biggest mistake is him ripping people off in the first place.

I hope if he is found doing this again after he is released they double the next sentence if found guilty. Then keep doing that till he gets the point that what he is doing is illegal.
