£40 charge for wireless modem!

I called VM today regarding the wireless router they are offering new customers .... FREE if they take out a certain package. We are currently on VIP package and were told it's £40.

Do i call back and demand i get it free, or do i pay?

Anyone else had this problem, if so how did you get round it?

Re: £40 charge for wireless modem!

The router they supply is not a replacement Modem-router anyway, it is just a router that connects to your current modem.

I definatly wouldnt pay 40 quid for a netgear.. i wouldnt pay a 5er for it.. infact i just gave mine away with the amount of hastle i had with it..

disconnections even WIRED to the router...
I now have a linksys and dont have any issues..
if you are concidering a router
get the Linksys WRT54G (Or GS)

Re: £40 charge for wireless modem!

The £40 charge is for Tech Support as Virgin do not support 3rd party routers, and people do appreciate that they can call up and be offered support for their router they received from Virgin.

XL customers dont have to pay for the wireless router, its just that because of the demand from new customers for the L and XL broadband (which warrants a free router) the free offer to existing customers has been put on hold

Get the linksys WRT150N its got cookie filtering on it, it plays havoc on the phorm websites as their cookies don't work. In fact it blocks all tracking cookies from sending any feedback to any site.
