Mac/Bootcamp/Parallels wierdness.

I've noticed, a couple of times now, that when I use Parallels (lets you run Windows in a Mac OSX window) to run a copy of XP that is installed on a boot camp partition, ocassionally, the Mac's internal clock jumps forward an hour.

Not a major problem, and even if I don't bother to reset the internal clock, it normally rights itself if the machine goes to sleep, or after a few minutes.

Just wanted to know, has anyone else encountered this?

I think I've seen this happen after running XP under bootcamp (rather than parallels).

Parallels sounds interesting though. Do you have a linky?

Stu: can't you get some sort of widget or whatever for OSX that checks/updates the system time from an internet time server at specified intervals? If you set it to something like every 10 mins, or even 5 it might make the issue less noticeable.

I have to admit, I only use it when I need to run a quick utils and don't want to go through the hassle of rebooting the machine (at work, we are mainly windows based, so it happens more often than you might think).

TBH, it doesn't bother me that much, and I think OSX resyncs the time fairly regularly anyway. Certainly seems to when the machine comes out of sleep mode.

That, and the fact that I've got into the habit of ignoring the onscreen clocks, as all our PCs sync to a time server that is a few minutes fast. Sadly, I can't correct it (don't have admin rights over the time server) and as Active Directory's password encryption is time sensitive, I don't think it a good idea to reset the clock on that server.
