Yep, the small size of the squad meant they were always going to be vulnerable, they have lost 7 or 8 defenders through injury and suspension in past few weeks which has hit them hard, on the other hand Rochdale are putting in some great performances and steadily climbing away from danger.

Our squad is small too. We had our two best strikers (Holt and Tyson) suspended on Saturday, Tyson still has another game left on his ban, Jack Lester will now get a 2 match ban because he picked up his 10th yellow on Saturday as well... but at least Holt's back so it will probably be Holt and Agogo unless CC's Dobie fetish recurs!
Since CC let all the deadwood go (Harris, Padula, Eaden, Thompson, Gardner etc) and also let Southall go back to Gillingham we'd have to field kids to make the numbers up, despite all this we still have Gary Holt. All we need is to play our best team.
Even if we have been rubbish for 2 months, to remain one point off 2nd isn't that bad, Scunthorpe look to be running away with it, but even then, we were 7 points clear at one stage so they can be caught.
Looks to be between Forest, Oldham, Yeovil and Brizzle for the 2nd spot though.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Could things get any worse?
West Ham could have points deducted as the Premier League investigates the signings of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez. (Various)
So the Premier league are going to deduct points, like it will make a difference, might make a difference to Liverpool though
And the Hammers' woes have worsened with the news striker Dean Ashton may not play again this season. (Daily Express)
So young Dean wont play this season, good might keep him out of others clutches in the summer, that poxy England friendly has wrecked our season
West Ham will have a clear-out this summer - with a whole team set to depart. (The Times)
Why wait sack some of them now
West Ham manager Alan Curbishley told defender Anton Ferdinand that he has no future at the club. (The Sun)
Feel quite sorry for Anton, he has had a tough season for sure but should bare the brunt?

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

It doesn't help Oldham Athletics cause when you have such incompetance from the local NHS hospital either.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Maybe if the FA started dishing out bans like this then players/managers might think twice before giving the ref abuse.
Quote:
Ryan handed 13-week touchline ban
Dean Ryan has been hit with a 13-week touchline ban for verbally abusing referee Rob Debney after Gloucester's match against Saracens on 18 February.
Ryan is now banned from the pitch, touchline, technical, tunnel and dressing room areas on match days.
The suspension runs until 31 May and also applies to the play-offs.

I agree.
The ref is there to use his authority to run the match and keep discipline, not to be intimidated and/or swore at.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
the trouble is the FA and FIFA have never realised that sending a manager off or giving him a touchline ban has no affect at all any more
in the days when the manager just sat in the dugouts it prob did but these days managers watch from the stands anyway as they get a better view
when the manager gets sent off he then gets given a phone.. a TV to view and a walkie talkie too just in case the phone doesn't work
if a manager is sent off then that should be it.. lock them in the refs room and they stay in there and don't even get to contact the players
remember Chelsea the other year when Mourinho was banned and their physio had a cap on the whole match so hide the ear piece.. what a total joke
it's like sending a player off but still letting him run up and down on the pitch

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Still 13 weeks of not being able to motivate your players in the dressing room might make them think differently.
They need to clamp down, in the Utd game last Saturday on at least two occasions Rooney told the ref to f**k off and the ref took no action. Tell a ref in rugby to f**k off and you wouldn't be on the pitch for much longer.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
The Hammers reportedly failed to hand over vital documentation to the Premier League and have been charged under rule U18 concerning the influence of third-party ownership.
Why has it taken so long for them to do anything about it then?

what i don't get here is that if West Ham don't have this stuff they they also couldn't give it to the FA for Liverpool to sign Masherano either

Ten men Man Utd beat Liverpool 1-nil at Anfield - all we need now is for Arsenal to lose and gain the above mentioned record and today will be a truly perfect day

I'm so happy...oh so happy...
Scoring when we did, after thinking that the best thing that we would get was a draw, makes it even sweeter
