Re: Sky Sports interactive
I know about the telewest app, but ntl would still need to write their own version of that app to work on the ntl side of the network. ntl use different stbs to telewest, so it's not just a case of using the telewest software, it needs to be adapted for the ntl side first.

That's not true. The apps themselves just run on the Liberate platform -- they don't have to be recompiled for each STB they run on. Imagine how many different versions NTL would have to broadcast if this was the case! (Though I suppose this would explain the speed...)
Of course the app would need to be altered to tune to whatever hidden channel the multiscreens were broadcast on, but this is an easy job. If Telewest can do it, there is clearly no technical reason why NTL cannot broadcast the multiscreens. Somewhere along the line, they have taken a deliberate decision not to do so.
So come on NTL, tell us: why are you the only digital broadcaster in the UK that refuses to show any of the BBC News Multiscreens?

to be honest i dont realy think an application like sports interactive would justify going to sky.

I would have to diagree with you on this. Sky tend to put cricket matches on interactive more often when they are showing two different matches. When it comes to the World Cup in two months time there will be matches that will be played at the same time. Because sky has got the rights to broadcast the World Cup they will use their interactive services to show some of them and whats the point in paying for it if you can't see the matches you want to. I'm sticking will ntl until the worlcup to see if they can sort this problem out.

Only when they win enough rights to top sporting events to make it worthwhile.
