Sky Sports interactive

Hi all,

I would like to watch the South Africa vs Pakistan Test match on Sky Sports. Its currently on the interactive service and when I press the red button, nothing happens. Any ideas?

It's not enabled on cable yet.

Is there any chance of them sorting this out any time soon? It would be nice to have this option available in time for the upcoming World Cup.

What are the issues of sky giving NTL the interactive service?
I dont know, thats why I ask ;)
Or is it that sky wanted more money from NTL for providing the interactive? and NTL would not stump up?
Maybe someone knows? :)

Re: Sky Sports interactive

or maybe the fact that sky dont want ntl to have the good bits.or the bits that make sky unique....not gonna get sports or movies or sky one in hd either lol

Thanks for all your feedback guys. With ntl now being taken over by virigin, things could be improved as I'm lead to believe. I think I will wait a month or two to see what happens before going to Sky. I see no point in paying for an incomplete service.

That would be my sentiments, wait and see what pans out.
As you point out, why pay for an incomplete service? ;)

I think you'll be waiting a long time. Sky wont give NTL this service as it allows them to retain of competitive edge in terms of the service that can be offered

I asked earlier, what is the reason for NTL customers not able to access the sky interactive content?
Is it a technical issue? or is it plain and simple that sky will not hand it over?
I have sky anyway, but I see your point in the last paragraph.
Which brings me to the point of why pay for half the meal?

ntl use different software (Liberate) on their stbs to Sky (OpenTV). So, for ntl to get Sky Sports interactive or the BBC News mutiscreens, ntl would need to enable (write code) for their own software to get these services working. For one reason or another, you're guess is as good as mine (they can can't be bothered..) they haven't done this. Obviously from Sky's point of view, it is not up to Sky to write code for a completely different software program. Plus, ntl is a competitor, so why should they?

a shame though, that telewest and ntl: worked together when ntl: was unavailable in their area or vise versa, yet Sky, if its unavailable to some, which is is, then they should refer to cable!

they get paid for providing it so why not? lol

its just murdoch. he's a tit. lol

In the case of the BBC Multiscreens, there is already a working Liberate of the app that Telewest use. Whatever NTL's reason for not offering this service to their customers, lack of working code isn't it.

Actually, I'd love to hear what the real reason is: Quadplay, can you tell us anything?
