Pc help

Hey guy's

We've had to reinstall windows xp home and everything seems fine now apart from evertime i boot the pc i get a message saying "new hardwear found ACPI Multiproceccor pc" then it say's a "problem was incountered with the install" same with the scanner and printer.

Now the printer is working fine and when i check the status of the ACPI Multiproceccor pc it says working fine. the scanner need the twain drivers. so why do i keep getting these messages when the other 2 things are working fine?

Re: Pc help

Have you looked in device manager (control panel > performance & maintenance > system >hardware), and deleted any items that have yellow "?" or red "x" against them?

Are you trying to install as a user with full admin rights to the PC?

The only thing with a yellow or red mark near them is the scanner, the other two are reporting as working fine but they still get the error message when the pc boots?

It's a strange one as the printer is working fine when i tell it to print etc.

Re: Pc help

As a matter of interest did you do the install with all the external devices attached. I find that Windoze plug 'n' pray sometimes gets confused if it has to install multiple drives at once. I would unplug any external devices, see if you can sort the original ACPI problem and then add the external devices back in one at a time. TBH I would start the install again without the external devices attached.
