Pc help

Hey guy's

We've had to reinstall windows xp home and everything seems fine now apart from evertime i boot the pc i get a message saying "new hardwear found ACPI Multiproceccor pc" then it say's a "problem was incountered with the install" same with the scanner and printer.

Now the printer is working fine and when i check the status of the ACPI Multiproceccor pc it says working fine. the scanner need the twain drivers. so why do i keep getting these messages when the other 2 things are working fine?

I dont understand why its saying that there is a problem with the other 2 things when they are working ok?

Have you looked in device manager (control panel > performance & maintenance > system >hardware), and deleted any items that have yellow "?" or red "x" against them?

Are you trying to install as a user with full admin rights to the PC?

The only thing with a yellow or red mark near them is the scanner, the other two are reporting as working fine but they still get the error message when the pc boots?

It's a strange one as the printer is working fine when i tell it to print etc.

As a matter of interest did you do the install with all the external devices attached. I find that Windoze plug 'n' pray sometimes gets confused if it has to install multiple drives at once. I would unplug any external devices, see if you can sort the original ACPI problem and then add the external devices back in one at a time. TBH I would start the install again without the external devices attached.

Ok guys i've got those problems sorted it looks like it needed the windows updates

Anyway its got and installed everything apart from one that is giving this message " the following updates were not installed, Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1" i've tried the debug that it says to do but that does'nt work.

Any ideas?
