DJ Tommy Vance dies

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertain...io/4323345.stm

The man with perhaps the most distinctive voice in radio has sadly passed away.

First John Peel, now Tommy Vance, seems like the legends are dropping one by one.

Re: DJ Tommy Vance dies

I remember listening to Tommy Vance when he was on Radio Caroline & later when he moved to the BBC.

Like Russ said, it was the voice that grabbed you first, but his knowledge of the music biz was encycopaedic & he had a lot of respect from the musicians.

RIP Tommy

Oh that wondeful voice.Makes me weak at the knees thinking about it....

Sad news indeed especially as he was so young really.63 seems so young by todays standards.

Re: DJ Tommy Vance dies

That is sad. What a fantastic voice - so throaty but kind of kindly gruff (if that makes sense) and immediately recognisable.
