Chances are you've really screwed up your connection by plugging / unplugging various different connectors. Few of the connectors available are as robustly crimped as provided by the cable co's. If the connection isn't good there will be signal loss, or the risk of interference being introduced back into the cable network affecting you, or your neighbours.
Simply put the cables prior to the modem / set top box shouldn't be messed around with by customers. You may well have to bite the bullet and get a TW engineer in to sort it for you, but be prepared to pay.
