Not as surprised as the patient was.....
Guardian
Quote:
A surgeon appeared "quite surprised" after accidentally cutting off a man's testicle, the General Medical Council was told today.
Dr Sulieman Al Hourani was only supposed to cut out a cyst on the patient's right testis, but instead he "mistakenly" removed the whole testicle, the GMC heard.

Brings a whole new meaning to "dropping a bolleau", imho....

Dr Hourani, who studied at university in Jordan and is now practising in Jordan, also allegedly injected himself with a sedative while on duty at Fairfield hospital.

Lets hope he stays in Jordan

Let us hope that none of us meet some locum as poor as this one..I want to retain my rather more important appendages.Mind the way things are set up with GPs routinely using untested locums it all too likely.

Re: Not as surprised as the patient was.....
Reminds me of the poor chap who had penis cancer, which was operated on successfully, except his foreskin had healed a bit tight.
He went under the knife to correct it, and the German (why is it always German doctors getting it wrong?) surgeon sliced his penis off.
It took them 2 years to get a court forced appology from the hospital.
I'm sorry, a patient comes in and has his penis removed when he shouldn't have, and the hospital didn't think they should appologise????

Pffff..... We men have two, so even loosing one means we can still fire on one cylinder.

Once you're down to one though, you have no spares!
Also, they didn't give any details about 'Patient A'.
He could be 87 years old or even awaiting full gender reassignment?
Sure, it could have been (much) worse, but it would be nice to be able to take it for granted that some drug crazed lunatic isn't going to hack one of your nuts off when you go in for some relatively minor surgery.

To be honest you'd think that would be a given.
