Angry Blueyonder email problems started last Thursday 22nd

Using Thunderbird/3.0.4 & Windows 7 64 bit

I've had a week of problems with pop3 account. First SMTP stopped then pop3. Spoke to virgin 5 times then they admitted there was a fault, changed current settings to new recommended settings

Have now got it to work spasmodically.

Will not pick up mail when Thunderbird is first started, I have to send a mail from another account to kick start mail to the Thunderbird but anything that was sent during the night does not arrive.
