BYP2100 bypass unit problem

Hi all.

My second tv scans & picks up the following terrestial channels from the loft aerial.

BBC1 (CH44 - 655.25MHz)
BBC2 (CH51 - 711.25MHz)
ITV1 (CH47 - 679.25MHz)
FOUR (CH41 - 631.25MHz)
FIVE (CH37 - 599.25MHz)

All from EMLEY MOOR I believe.

All pictures are good quality.

My main TV & Samsung STB doesn't have an external aerial nearby so out of convenience (& simplicity) I fitted a BYP2100 bypass unit.

However, when I scan for available channels I can only obtain BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 & FOUR and all are not great quality either.

I also noticed that the channel no's & frequencies (from the bypass) are different too.

i.e. BBC1 (CH23 - 487.25MHz)

There doesn't appear to be any channels available on frequencies above 600 MHz.

Is there anything I can do?

Regards

Roughneck

Re: BYP2100 bypass unit problem

Hi

My tv 'discovers' the following channels via the Technetix BYP2100 bypass.

BBC1 on 487.25MHz (CH23?)
BBC2 on 503.25MHz (CH25?)
ITV1 on 519.25MHz (CH27?)
FOUR on 535.25MHz (CH29?)

The STB's RF channel is 53.

The pictures are watchable but not as good as via loft aerial.

All connections are good & properly seated.

Would I be correct in assuming that only certain Band IV analogue signals are delivered via the bypass?

Where would Channel 5 be?

Any help is appreciated.

Roughneck.

Re: BYP2100 bypass unit problem

On the Bromley network (which includes Leeds) the frequencies don't align with standard UHF channels numbers, so your TV is having difficulty tuning. Channel 5 is probably on a frequency that your TV can't tune to at all.

I'd recommend an aerial!

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried tuning 2 other tv's using the bypass and still the same results.

BBC1 on 487.25MHz (CH23)
BBC2 on 503.25MHz (CH25)
ITV1 on 519.25MHz (CH27)
FOUR on 535.25MHz (CH29)
FIVE ?????????????????????

I guess I will have to re-route my existing aerial downlead

A lesson learnt perhaps?

Roughneck.
