Bad Connections ?

Ok, after booting my PC up this morning i've noticed my internet it extremely slow at loading any website. so, i decided to traceroute the bbc webite.
The results shocked me. Look at all the dropped connections here.

Re: Bad Connections ?

Nope, looks like packet loss to me though I could be wrong.

---------- Post added at 10:18 ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 ----------

Can you do

ping /t www.bbc.co.uk

on the command prompt and leave it for half an hour and when you get bored, come back and do ctrl+c to stop it and see what the average ping and packet loss figures are like.

Re: Bad Connections ?

Actually, i just rebooted my modem 3 times in a row along with my router. Seems to have done the trick.

I'll do it nonetheless, should be fun to see what it's like
Thanks for the correct diagnosis there Zeph.

Re: Bad Connections ?

7% Packet Loss according to that small sample. If there's more than one person having problems, perhaps its maintenance work or an area fault, maybe phone CS?

Yes it is, and i've tried without it, same results.
I've tried different channels, etc. To no avail.

Recently just general page loading has slowed down alot as well.

Re: Bad Connections ?

Ok, an engineer has been out to see to my connection today, after some umming and ahhing, a swapped modem, and his est modem, he blames the wireless. Sad thing is i came straight upstairs and all of a sudden no apparant packet loss, and i actually have a 4Mb connection again. Weird.

So, no fixing took place, yet it was fixed. Anyway, good Technical Support if you ask me

Re: Bad Connections ?

On a furthur not eof business, it was interesting to see that the UBR at Doncaster is actually being upgraded tonight, do you reckon it could resolve my isuuse a little more? and maybe even let me have my 4Mb speeds more consistently?

What do they normally do when upgrading a UBR?
