Can't configure internet as Virgin Media doesn't recognise Windows 7

Hello.

My friend has had her 2mb STB internet upgraded to 10mb with a separate modem.

Unfortunately, the configuration software in IE won't continue as it doesn't recognise Windows 7 as a valid OS.

For the time being, I've had to put it back to how it was.

Can anyone give me a workaround? I thought about using the XP virtualisation feature but her CPU doesn't support it.

Cheers.

You don't need to use the software.
I assume she has her modem connected by ethernet.
Just turn on the new modem, wait a minute, then turn on the computer. It should work.

If you are still having trouble with IE, you could try installing Firefox.

Re: Can't configure internet as Virgin Media doesn't recognise Windows 7

Thanks. It's working now.

IE just kept redirecting to a configuration page that wouldn't run but seems ok now I've tried it again.

Should have just tried again this morning!

Ok, the internet runs through the modem but it's still at the old speed.

How do I sort it out?

Cheers.

She will need to contact customer services, unless you are named as a contact on the account, in which case you can call.
