Windows Security Center Shows 2 Antivirus Applications

My Norton supscription has expired so i switched to using avast! home edition, however

I used SymNRT to remove norton and the program seems to be gone, but the Windows Security Center indicates i am running 2 antivirus apps, I uninstalled avast! and it says that Norton is installed and running! How do I get rid of this

Re: Windows Security Center Shows 2 Antivirus Applications

Ive found the hard way to do it and i have fixed it now. This should work on any security app. This is the solution i used:

Quote:
(1) stop the WMI Service, (2) delete the repository folder in C:\windows\system32\wbem, and (3) start the WMI Service. Starting the service rebuilt the deleted folder and the database. Once I restarted my system, Windows Security Center no longer showed Norton as running
P.s: yes i have edited the registry many times
