Prefix Dialing codes.

Whats a good source to find out an Area Dialing Code?

Had two calls tonight that ring off when answered but i think that they are Mobiles? 08665 & 08663.
Any thought`s on this anyone?

Cheers.
Neil.

Re: Prefix Dialing codes.

Uk mobiles are all 07 has standard now, so you can discount a UK number, not sure on offshore numbers tho.

086 is the code for China mate, You remembered right!
Why would someone in China be trying to phone me though?
I`ve no connections there!

Re: Prefix Dialing codes.

www.ukphoneinfo.com is a great site for finding area codes - and it works backwards too, so you can put in a number like 01234567890, and it will tell you it's in Bedford, but probably not valid.

08663 & 08665 aren't found, so either the call didn't come from the UK (in which case, surely it should come up as International?), or whoever was calling you inserted a fake CLI - in which case it was probably an international call centre...

Re: Prefix Dialing codes.

Telephone numbering is administered by Ofcom. They have lots of info about it here:

Re: Prefix Dialing codes.

Just found out that the 0866 and 0863 numbers are from an Indian call centre trying to sell us a Loan! Basta**s!

Twenty calls we`ve had from them now.
