RBS and Natwest 'scheduled maintenance' turns into a major disaster

A day after the HSBC had major problems with it's cash machines the Natwest and RBS online banking and mobile services have gone down, coincidence or something more sinister ?

Quote:
The two banks said there should not be any problem with taking money out of cashpoints or branches - but balances have not updated overnight and payments have not gone through.
Daily withdrawal limits have not been updated either, so if you withdrew your limit on Friday, you will not be able to withdraw any cash today.

Re: NatWest ,RBS problems

They seem to be getting things back. I can now log into my online banking account but it's still a bit limited as not everything is working

The RBS systems maintenance that has gone wrong was scheduled and it was being announced on their website in advance. So it's not a cover story. They tried to fix some stuff and made a mess of it instead. It happens.

It was scheduled for the early hours and was to affect all online and telephone banking. But they mucked it up and the schedule has all gone to pot.

Trust me, having been in the same position as Head of Infrastructure for a FTSE 250 Financial Services company, there will be lots of people, including senior management, running about sweating bullets at this time, with a few people's jobs at risk.....
