Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?

Quote:
We hope you’re enjoying your brand new 30Mb broadband! Since we launched it, we’ve had loads of great feedback from our customers and we can’t wait to find out more.

We’ve been working closely with Ofcom, the broadband industry regulator, and SamKnows, the speed testing experts, to make sure Internet Service Providers are being fair and honest with their customers about broadband speeds. We do this by helping them get a panel of customers together, whose broadband performance will be independently measured by Ofcom and SamKnows. The panel is made up of broadband users from around the country, from all the major Internet Service Providers, on all sorts of speeds.

How can I help?
Our brand new 30Mb broadband hasn’t been tested by Ofcom and SamKnows yet. That’s why they’re recruiting their latest speed testing panel and we’d love it if you’d join them.

Count me in! What do I do?
It’s simple. Just register with Ofcom and SamKnows here:
samknows.com/broadband/signup/ofcom. Once you’ve registered, they’ll pick a sample of people to join the panel and, if you’re one of them, they’ll send you a little gadget to connect to your SuperHub. This lets Ofcom and SamKnows measure your connection’s performance without affecting your broadband use at all.

Just so you know, these panels fill up quickly, so if you’d like to join in, just make sure you register as soon as you can. If you’re picked for the panel, SamKnows will get in touch with you within the next 10 days.

We really hope you’ll join the panel and help us keep broadband fair and honest for everyone.

Kind regards,
The Virgin Media team
What's the betting they only screen people who haven't complained about their SuperHub

Phone Rings...

VM: Hi, you've been selected for our new 30mb broadband panel, how has you're experience with the SuperHub been?

Selected Customer: Well, I'm having some issues with mine like Youtube streaming freezes, issues with usenet, online gaming, no bridge mode, the new R25 firmware.......

VM: Click, brrrrrr.....

Selected Customer: Hello? Hello? Anyone there?

Phone Rings...

VM: Hi, you've been selected for our new 30mb broadband panel, how has you're experience with the SuperHub been?

Selected Customer: Well, I hardly use mine much just thought the extra speed would make sending and receiving my emails a bit faster and general web broswing faster too.

VM: Welcome to our panel!

But it's a Samknows/Ofcom panel not a VM one.

Like they know if any of their customers are already SamKnows testers or not!

Joining will at least bare out any problems you are having.
I have been on the testers list since day one.
Any complaints on your system can be reinforced by graphs which can be printed out.

hopefully this will indirectly give ofcom a heads up on the pooperhub and maybe they'll be able to influence VM in a way we might not expect (keeping fingers crossed for pooperhub bring withdrawn and stand alone modems coming back)

Don't hold your breath! At a guess it would appear, if some of the staffers are to be believed, it's only about 10% of users affected by it.

Unfortunately it seems those 10% are the ones who use and need a solid network!

Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?

SamKnows are after quite a few new testers/monitors, not just for a VM connection.

Go here
don't worry about having filled 2 forms in.
