on demand - absolute rubbish
VOD has never really worked
keep getting the "this service isn't avilable right now ......." message
have tried unplugging the box etc. Rang 151 and got a message saying your box now has a handy tool so you can fix it yourself by going to option 9 on the menu "help & info" then select virgin tv and fix it assistant - great except when I press 9 I get the same error message "this service isn't available....." and the phone then went quiet, no messages, no music, no nothing
any ideas ??

Fix It Assistant is good, but some faults do need a tech visit. Call again, sequin.

If you can't even access the Help & Info section then it could be that your box isn't even getting a return path, is the online light flashing on the front of the box? Either way you will need a tech as spiderplant has said

The online button is flashing on the front of my box constantly when it's turned on. It reboot earlier as well. I've got the SA V+ box. What does it mean?

If the online light is flashing there is no return path and you wont get on demand. You need to phone Virgin.
