need jre1.6.0_12-c-l.msi?

Hi All,

I can't update java on one of my machines as it asks for jre1.6.0_12-c-l.msi to remove the old version.

It seems the original installation was done by a user who has since been deleted from the system and the installer for Java had placed the MSI in their user directory which has since been deleted (Clever )

Does anyone know where I can get Java 1.6 Update12 from, as I think i'm going to need the setup package from the old version to enable to me to install the latest version

Try downloading 1.6 (12) from here http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ and then removing it.. Although a different install package it should be the same release

Stupid thing is asking for the MSI file for 1.6 (12) but saying it really wants 1.6 (18) yet actually it won't accept the MSI files from the 1.6 (12) or 1.6 (18) installers

Yes but I wasn't sure if trying to rip it out manually or with one of those utilities would break something.

Guess it's worth a try

There are 3rd party utils like

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...s/JavaRa.shtml

Which was developed for the exact reason you're having

(remember with some OS's you will have to run this tool as an administrator)

Working now

I ended up doing it with Revo uninstaller, Java can be a right pain in the backside at times

I had admin rights on the machine so that wasn't a problem

Thanks for the help, I'd Rep you but it won't let me as i've not given enough out apparently.
