Dog ASBO law passed in Scotland

It's been a bone of contention for some time obviously but this is another example of ruff justice I reckon...

Re: Dog ASBO law passed in Scotland

I suspect that this is another law that will be unenforceable because you have to have some one to oversee it and to expect the police to do so is asking a lot of an already overworked organisation.

It might work if Dog Wardens were reintroduced but that will have to be paid for and I suspect that money won't be readily available.

Thankfully it appears they have bypassed the Polis and dumped the burden firmly on the shoulders of the local councils.

The new law gives councils greater powers to impose penalties, with a focus on the "deed and not the breed" of the dog.
Uh huh. All well and good but when the courts still make a raving cockup of everything they touch all the laws in the land won't make the slightest bit of difference.

My particular favourite was one particularly nasty piece of work had a dog which was given a destruction order. He asked for a week to have it at home before it got the needle. Lo and behold when it came time for the dog to get put down Mr Ned claimed it had run away which was accepted by the courts. Needless to say the dog found its way home a day or so later

Interesting that the picture features what appears to be a staffordshire bull terrier muzzled. To my knowledge they are not covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act and the one in the picture doesn't exactly look fierce.
