Re: If I create restore discs for my laptop then delete the restore partition...
I believe so, but I can't be 100% sure. I did just that on my laptop. The data stored on the DVDs are only what's on the laptop. Not how much space is free. I created my own restore discs, then reduced the partition to 40GB from 100GB and implemented the discs, and it worked.
Re: If I create restore discs for my laptop then delete the restore partition...
I think these restore CD's /DVD bring it back factory defaults - i.e. if you had some partitons that had the restore info in them it will restore them as well.
Re: If I create restore discs for my laptop then delete the restore partition...
If you run all the disks for a recovery they should return the PC to the point they were created, when we use them at work they restore partitions etc.

Re: If I create restore discs for my laptop then delete the restore partition...
My HP doesnt restore partitions when doing a factory reset.
Personally I wouldnt remove\delete the restore partition, there only a few GB and if your disc's go for a walk\damaged you'll have to go through the rigmarole of getting restore disc's from Sony which would be a PITA.
