anyone having email trouble tonight?

I can't get my emails to download tonight. (I can see them on webmail) I occassionally get a stutter loading web pages at the moment but can't get emails at all. I can send but get a timout message for receiving. I've tried changing proxies, disabling firewall. Nothing on the service page at the moment. Anyone else having difficulties?

Re: anyone having email trouble tonight?

hi, fine here, sorry

- you may have a 'stuck' mailbox, have you tried logging in via webmail? Sometimes reading messages with that & deleting them from the server will get things working again

Re: anyone having email trouble tonight?

no joy with that. Pinging smtp.ntlworld.com shows packet loss 25-75%.

Re: anyone having email trouble tonight?

That won't have any affect on pinging The cache only affects Port 80 (web browsing)

If you can access your mailbox via webmail, and have cleared it, but still cannot receive mail 'normally' suggests a problem with your end???

Confirm what Zeph said, the cache used is irrelevant to email, however a firewall setting might block the pop server???

- not sure why you are pinging the smtp server when receive is the problem, and it is likely set to prioritise 'real' traffic over a ping, anyway, hence the packet loss.
