anyone having email trouble tonight?

I can't get my emails to download tonight. (I can see them on webmail) I occassionally get a stutter loading web pages at the moment but can't get emails at all. I can send but get a timout message for receiving. I've tried changing proxies, disabling firewall. Nothing on the service page at the moment. Anyone else having difficulties?:dozey:

hi, fine here, sorry :)

- you may have a 'stuck' mailbox, have you tried logging in via webmail? Sometimes reading messages with that & deleting them from the server will get things working again :)

no joy with that. Pinging smtp.ntlworld.com shows packet loss 25-75%.

Try pinging www.bbc.co.uk to see if you get similar results

what cache are you using?

Re: anyone having email trouble tonight?

That won't have any affect on pinging :) The cache only affects Port 80 (web browsing)

If you can access your mailbox via webmail, and have cleared it, but still cannot receive mail 'normally' suggests a problem with your end???

Confirm what Zeph said, the cache used is irrelevant to email, however a firewall setting might block the pop server???

- not sure why you are pinging the smtp server when receive is the problem, and it is likely set to prioritise 'real' traffic over a ping, anyway, hence the packet loss. :)
