Setup STB after redecorating Room

Hey everyone,

I have recently redecorated my room and the STB was off for nearly 3 days in that time.

I am now putting everything back.

So setting up my STB used to have TV ,STB, VCR & DVD
STB connected to VCR & TV with Scart & Coaxle
VCR connected to TV with Scart & Coaxle
DVD connected to TV with Scart

I am no longer needing my VCR

So i have the setup as
STB connected to TV with Scart & Coaxle
DVD connected to TV with Scart

does this all sound right?

also it is stuck on tune (think it is because the STB been off for so long) and my tv 1-5 channels are very fuzzy but the NTL channel looks perfect (but stuck on tune)

how can i get this working?
is it a call to CS?

ik

Re: Setup STB after redecorating Room

If the STB was off for a while, it might possibly need a kick from CS. Try powering it off again, make sure all leads are firmly in place with the cable feed sceurely screwed home, clean the card in the front of the STB with a dry cloth, and try again.

As for connections, those seem OK, just make sure your scart leads are tow way 21 pin. Some aren't in which case it will be a fiddle to get them feeding right.

TV channels 1-5 over co-axial aerial, will only be good quality if your STB has a bypass box, or alternatively you connect in an external rooftop aerial.

Re: Setup STB after redecorating Room

ok, I dont have an external ariel, so do i need the coaxle from the STB to the tv?

checked all the connections, they are firm, cleaned the card, still fuzzy.

a call to cs then, they open just now?

Sounds like the cable between the STB and the wallbox isn't connected properly. If it looks like it is, unscrew it again, and check that the copper wire in the middle of the plug isn't bent. If it is, try carefully straightening with long-nose pliers.

If the channels had expired because the box had been off too long, the box would still boot, but most channels would say "you have not subscribed".

As a last resort, call NTL and say you're really really sorry.
