they are not suggesting that your ntlworld email account is being spammed, you can be a spammer without ever touching this
they are suggesting that there is something installed on the computer or a computer connected to your ip address that is sending out spam.
Most likely someone has sent a spam message or a number of them to the AUP department, with the use of the headers they would have been able to trace your ip (where the email originated from) and have been able to trace the account to you.
This is usually down to a trojan of some sort operating on the connection without you knowing about it but:
- this could have been in the past (have you known about a virus infection on any of your computers recently)
- it could possibly be a mistake but somehow someone or a number of people have reported an email coming from your ip address as spam
once again this has absolutely nothing to do with your @ntlworld.com account
if you say that you have fully checked the computer then i believe that the threat is no longer there but to be sure check check and double check as if there is something on the computer it is degrading your service
software that you could use is:
avg free -
www.grisoft.com (antivirus)
adaware -
www.lavasoftusa.com (spyware removal)
spybot s&d -
http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10122137.html (spyware removal)
all of which are free
have you got information on the email that was forwarded to them?
would also be worthwhile checking your ip address on :
http://www.openrbl.org/
to see if you have been blacklisted anywhere
if you would like any more information please let me know
lets hope its just a mistake
