Virgin Media Web Safe
I logged into my account online and notice this is active and says it protects against viruses and malware.
How does it protect tho when i dont use their internet security?

Virgin probably uses a list supplied and maintained by another company.
No idea if they use a transparent proxy, DNS or some other way of implementing it though.

Yes, third party list through a combination of DNS and a transparent proxy system.
