Question TV,Phone and Broadband

Hi all.

I'm hoping you can help.

My parents are moving back to the UK from France but the area they are moving to has no VM. They are not the most technical of parents and have tasked me with the job of sorting their home entertainment/communications soon after they return.

They have SKY in France so is this transferable to their new address in the UK? Are there any other options I can look at for them?

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

Re: TV,Phone and Broadband

It's unlikely they'll be able to transfer Sky between countries, you'd be better talking to them directly tbh.

Other than that it's just the usual options :

Freeview/Freesat
New Sky connection here
BT as they now do TV too

That's about it i think.

Re: TV,Phone and Broadband

The Sky setup will work when they're back in the UK - They'll just need a dish and cabling.

The relevant question is how do they subscribe to Sky in France? Sky do not supply to customers outside of the UK so your parent's subscription will not be associated with their address in France. If they've used a company to sort out their subscription for them they're probably paying over the odds and it would be worth cancelling and re-subscribing with Sky directly. If they're using a friend's address to pretend to be in the UK then they just need to tell Sky that they are moving. Both options will get them a new dish installed...

Re: TV,Phone and Broadband

More likely they have been using a Sky box to receive the free-to-air channels in France. If that's the case, they just need to decide if their viewing choice is sufficient, or whether they want to subscribe in order to see more channels.

Re: TV,Phone and Broadband

Ok, Here's the latest.

I found out they are still using their old UK address (pre moving to France) Is it worth them telling SKY they've moved from the old UK address to the one they're going to next week? Will they incur a cost for the dish/cabling?

Thanks guys.

Steve.
