Does your PC get a valid IP address (
ipconfig from DOS prompt - should begin something like 81.nnn.nnn.nnn - valid NTL address ranges can be found
here)?
If so, can you browse to
http://192.168.100.1/ (the CM user interface). If you can get that far the CM is working (and talking to the UBR).
When you do the IPconfig you should also get a field called 'default gateway'. This should be the IP of the 'UBR'. Can you ping this address?
If all the above works you are getting on to NTL's network. Next step would be to try
ftp upload.ntlworld.com from DOS prompt - this bypasses any broken transparent web caches.
