For what it's worth, though, the same upgrades that would remove spectrum restrictions and allow more upstream channels have been necessary anyway to allow for more DOCSIS downstreams and TV channels.

so reading between the lines there, I'm guessing since my area has 16 ds channels it's already capable of more us, just needs a config change?
