The variations between areas can be quite pronounced now.
The HFC that newly built and newly rebuilt areas will have has 5-85MHz upstream and 105-1218MHz downstream, field adjustable to deliver 5-200MHz upstream and the rest downstream.
Some areas awaiting rebuild will have 5-50MHz upstream and 65-750MHz downstream. 1.1GHz downstream versus 685MHz downstream is a big difference and is why some areas struggle to make room for 12 or 16 channels while others have space for 32 channels plus DOCSIS 3.1 carriers right now.
